Three-in-OneĀ Flea Control Program
-
Adult Flea Control: The most annoying flea is the adult flea. It is important to note that adult fleas only represent 5% of a flea population. Our pet and child friendly treatment uses pyrethrins from the chrysanthemum flower with a catalyst that provides quick knockdown of the adult fleas and relief from severe infestations.
-
Emergence from Cocoon: 10% of a flea population is in the pupae stage. That is they have woven themselves into a silk cocoon which provides protection until they emerge. This stage usually lasts one to two weeks and ends when vibrations, warmth, or carbon monoxide comes near the cocoon. In what literally only takes as little as three second the now adult flea breaks from the cocoon and springs onto the source of warmth, vibrations, or carbon-monoxide desperate for its first blood meal. This blood meal is important because it enables the flea to reproduce – which seems to be the fleas only goal. The second part of our three way program is the very important IGR (insect growth regulator). This IGR is a natural hormone which inhibits the new adults from being able to reproduce. This is a necessary ingredient for complete control of the fleas.

The other 85%: So we’ve taken care of the annoying adult fleas and annoying cocoon emergence problem. Where are the other 85% of the fleas? The answer is they’re in your carpet, rugs, furniture, closets, even beds. And you don’t even notice them because they’re either tiny little larvae or even smaller eggs. Even worse some of the eggs won’t hatch for a long time – until temperature and humidity levels reach favorable conditions. So how do we keep these little buggers from developing and starting the problem all over again? That is where the third part of our treatment comes in. We use a pyrethroid – a synthetic cousin of the pyrethrins – which has very low toxicity to mammals (dogs, cats, humans) – and even better it has a much better residual effect, up to three months (even when you vacuum religiously).
As you can see it is important to consider the complete population and life cycle of the flea to gain effective control. We are confident that our three-in-one program is very effective and will help keep these annoying pests away from your pets, children, and home.
